[PROCESS]

FROM STEMS TO master

  1. 001

    SEND STEMS

Consolidated from bar one, 24-bit, no master bus limiter, headroom around -6 dB. There's a checklist on this page so nothing bounces back.

  2. 002

    STATIC MIX

Balance, tone and depth before any automation. This is where the record either works or gets fixed — usually within 48 hours of your files landing.

  3. 003

    DETAIL PASS

Vocal rides, ad-lib placement, tuning and timing, effects throws. The moves that make a rap vocal sit forward without getting harsh.

  4. 004

    MASTER

Loudness and tone matched to your references, checked on phone speakers and in the car before anything ships.

[BEFORE YOU SEND]

STEM checklist

Six things that stop your files bouncing back and save us both a day.

  1. 001

    CONSOLIDATE FROM BAR ONE

Every stem the same length, starting at zero.

  2. 002

    24-BIT WAV, SESSION RATE

Don't resample. 44.1k or 48k, whatever you tracked.

  3. 003

    NO MASTER BUS LIMITER

Leave me the headroom — around -6 dBFS peaks.

  4. 004

    KEEP YOUR ROUGH MIX

It tells me what you were hearing. Send it in the folder.

  5. 005

    NAME THE FILES

KICK, 808, LEAD VOX, ADLIB L, ADLIB R. That's all it takes.

  6. 006

    FLAG THE REFERENCES

Two or three records you want it to sit next to.

[QUESTIONS]

ASKED often

HOW SHOULD I EXPORT MY STEMS?

Every stem consolidated from bar one at the session sample rate, 24-bit WAV, no master bus processing, peaks around -6 dBFS. Keep your rough mix in the folder — I use it to hear what you were going for.

WHAT IF I ONLY HAVE A TWO-TRACK?

That's a master-only job. I can do a lot with a stereo bounce, but I can't unbake a mix — if the vocal is buried, it stays buried. Send stems if you have any way to get them.

HOW LOUD WILL MY MASTER BE?

Loud enough to hold up next to anything on the playlist, without the pumping. I target around -14 LUFS integrated for streaming and keep a hotter version for club and DJ use if you ask for one.

WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THE MIX?

Revisions are included at every tier and I don't count them petty. If we're three rounds in and it still isn't landing, you get your money back and keep the stems — that's happened twice and I'd rather it stay rare.
